Increasing Daily Care Support for Mr G in Lytham St Annes

Location: Lytham St AnnesFunding Type: Local Authority

The Situation

Mr G had a small care package in place, consisting of only three visits per week. However, as his needs increased, this level of support was no longer enough to help him manage safely and comfortably at home.

Mr G was visually impaired, which made day-to-day tasks more difficult. He was often forgetting to take his medication and was also struggling with personal care. These challenges were beginning to affect his overall wellbeing, independence and daily routine.

His daughter was doing everything she could to help. However, she lived 70 miles away and was travelling four times a week to support him, while also working full-time and caring for her own family. This placed a huge amount of pressure on her and left the family worried about whether Mr G had enough support in place.

Our Support

All About You recognised that Mr G’s existing care package no longer reflected the level of support he needed.

We requested a local authority reassessment, highlighting the increase in his needs and the impact this was having on both Mr G and his family. The aim was to make sure his care package properly supported him day to day, rather than leaving his daughter to fill the gaps.

Following the reassessment, Mr G’s care package was increased to two visits per day. These visits focused on the areas where he needed the most consistent support, including medication prompts, personal care and grooming.

This meant Mr G had regular, professional support built into his daily routine, helping him feel more settled and better cared for at home.

The Outcome

With two daily care visits in place, Mr G’s wellbeing improved significantly. He was receiving regular medication prompts, support with personal care and help with grooming, all of which contributed to his comfort, confidence and day-to-day routine.

The increased support also made a meaningful difference to his daughter. Knowing that her dad was receiving consistent, professional care helped reduce the pressure on her and gave the whole family greater peace of mind.

Instead of travelling long distances several times a week to provide essential support, his daughter could feel reassured that Mr G had the right help in place closer to home.

This case shows how important it is for care packages to be reviewed when someone’s needs change. With the right level of support, Mr G was able to remain at home with improved well-being, while his family felt properly supported too.
